Method: thrown on wheel Height: ~3" w/ lid Date: fall 2001 In advanced ceramics, I was the only student mainly because I was taking it fall semester. What happened was that I had it the same period as a beginning class, but it was down on my schedule as an advanced class. Because I was the only student, I got to choose my own assignments a lot of the time. I spent my semester of advance ceramics learning how to use the potter's wheel. Come winter break, I had a large collection of vases, cups, pots, and bowls even a few plates. On one pot I painted several trees. I liked the way that they came out so much, that I did it again on this one. It's kind of hard to see in these photographs, but it starts out with a single straight tree on one side, and then the trees gradually slump closer and closer to the ground on each side, until it finally ends with a single stump. Maybe it has some sort of hidden significance... how should I know? |
